Human Stories

In occasion for Amazon Germany's 25th anniversary, our client and partner GRAL GmbH tasked us with designing a pop-up exhibition, which aimed to give employees ("Amazonians") a platform to share their experiences working for the company: the beginnings, the growth, and the criticism.

In addition to an emphasis on sustainability, the exhibition concept should reflect Amazon's innovative and unconventional character. We were commissioned to run the project from concept to production.

Concept

We opted for a playful interpretation of the company's most iconic symbol: the cardboard packaging.
Cardboard stelae with built-in displays that play back the staff interviews exactly at eye height and life size.
Visitors are “enveloped” in an intimate audio-visual dialog-like experience.

Development

The design of the cardboard stelae was developed in numerous iterative steps. These steps always involved the production of prototypes, to check and refine the construction to achieve the desired final aesthetics and stability.
Ultimately, the production of the small batch series was carried out in collaboration with local partner companies.

Exhibition

The exhibition, which we called "Human Stories", was set up in the cafeteria at the company's headquarters, giving employees and visitors the opportunity to gain insights into the human side of a giant tech company.
