Concept
The concept 'Take a Seat' is our vision of an 'endless' dining table. To us, it symbolises community and connection, which referenced to the motto of the 2025 mcbw: 'How to design a vibrant community'.
To create an inviting space where everyone can join, connect, and engage in conversation, we have designed a series of features to be built into the table installation, including a large illuminated sign displaying changing messages, sensor-based table lighting that encourages people to pair up to activate it, and a series of engaging discussion topics engraved along the entire length of the table.

Development
As our usual approach is to develop the elements of a project up to the very details by our in-house team, we first developed a digital model of the complete installation, which then could be split into sub-projects that could be further developed by the team. This 3D assembly, which gets regularly updated with the repective states of the elements makes sure that we keep overview.

Prototyping
Every element of the installation as well as the overall assembly went through several iterations of optimisation and functional refinement.

The first working prototype of the 12-segment letter marked a milestone that sparked enthusiasm throughout our team.

Production
A coordinated effort is required when production begins. Every component must be mature enough for batchproduction, and all elements must fit together.

'Take a Seat' at mcbw 2025
The installation was very well received by the public to say the least. During the nine days and nights of the event, our endless table was filled from early morning until late at night with picknickers, sunbathers, curious and playful families. In other words: a vibrant community.
